Terms of Use

for the colab.aip.de facilities (CoLab-AIP)

The CoLab-AIP services are build on the Open Source Project CoCalc/Sagemath.

A. CoLab-AIP accounts and usage

  1. The CoLab-AIP facilities are provided for AIP members to do scientific work. They provide limited access to compute- and storage resources. The resources and access to them are provided on a best effort basis.
  2. If the user is not a member of the AIP, the CoLab-AIP facilities are available to them exclusively for active collaborative work with one or more AIP members.
    1. Any non-AIP user must get an AIP group leader to confirm the account request and name the collaboration project with at least one other AIP member as collaborator.
    2. Such collaborations will require approval by the CoLab-AIP administrators.
  3. The CoLab-AIP is provided exclusively for scientific work.
    1. Use of the CoLab-AIP for private purposes is not permitted.
    2. Use of the CoLab-AIP for commercial purposes is not permitted.
    3. Use of the CoLab-AIP for illegal purposes is not permitted.
  4. Any violations of these terms will result in immediate disabling of involved accounts by CoLab-AIP administrators, and subsequent appropriate other measures.

B. Availability of CoLab-AIP

  1. Although the CoLAb-AIP administrators will strive to ensure suitable access to the facilities
  2. Storage space is limited per user by quota.
  3. A set of basic modules for scientific work with python is provided. Users can add other python modules to their own workspace.
  4. Adding of other kernels (environments) and changing the current setup of CoLab-AIP is done by administrators at request, and at the discretion of the administrators.

C. Termination of accounts

  1. If an account is slated for suspension/deletion, the user will receive a notification from the administrators.

  3. The above procedural terms do not apply for cases of violation of the Terms of use. The administration of CoLab-AIP will take appropriate measures.
